Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Nepal will officially open in mid 2020. The airport is located 14 miles from the birthplace of the Buddha, a popular tourist destination. It will become Nepal’s second international airport. Upon completion, the airport will serve as an alternative to Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, which is facing a huge rise in traffic due to a steady increase in international tourists in recent years.
