The intellect is a valuable tool, but it doesn’t encompass the whole of our reality. In fact, it can be a trap preventing us from gaining access to the most profound aspects of our own nature. - Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche
Take a moment to answer this question: “Who is the best person I know who will help me find release from suffering?” Now, expand your answer from the best person to your top three. Did you include yourself on the list? If so, great. If not, I urge you to reconsider! You have the ability to be one of your own best resources. Others will be part of your journey, but it is in your best interest to be your own best friend. - Margaret Meloni
We’re all quite familiar with the word ‘trigger’ but not as many people are acquainted with the word ‘glimmer’.
A trigger is a moment when a negative reaction is stimulated. It causes us to feel tense, anxious, sad, stressed, unhappy, frightened, vulnerable. A glimmer is a moment when a positive reaction is energized. It cause us to feel calm, peaceful, safe, happy, joyful, energized and glad to be alive. A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger. It’s a micro moment of joy. So, why not train ourselves to look for glimmers which are constantly and consistently present moment by moment. Here are some common glimmers: • witnessing an act of kindness • a smile from a stranger • an unexpected compliment • experiencing connection • smelling freshly baked bread • hearing I love you from a friend • being in nature • petting a dog or cat • receiving a surprise hug • noticing wild flowers or bees or butterflies • seeing a rainbow • enjoying an accomplishment So, become acquainted with your glimmers. And, one more thing - each evening ask yourself: Was I a trigger or a glimmer to people today? Be ruthlessly honest with yourself. Then, the next morning commit and re-commit to being a glimmer. That way you will be what is desperately needed on our planet: a person whose presence bring happiness, joy, peace, goodwill, trust, positivity and love into the lives of others. - Victor M. Parachin When you lack confidence, when you’ve lost focus or when your mind-set needs a boost, then super-charge your intention by chanting, meditating, exercising, or whatever wholesome practice lifts you up. - Tina Turner
I have noticed that people are dealing too much with the negative, with what is wrong. They do not touch enough on what is not wrong—it’s the same as some psychotherapists. Why not try the other way, to look into the patient and to see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom? - Thich Nhat Hanh
We have to train ourselves to recognize the many conditions for happiness that are already here. -Thich Nhat Hanh
The wise are not people who never make mistakes, but those who forgive themselves and learn from their mistakes. - Ajahn Brahm
Contentment is the opposite of a faultfinding mind. You should develop the perception of contentment with whatever you have, wherever you are, as much as you can. - Ajahn Brahm
Equanimity brings calmness and balance to moments of joy as well as difficulty. It protects us from an emotional overreaction, allows us to rest in a bigger perspective, and contains a basic trust in the course of things. - Christiane Wolf
Through meditation we can train the mind not to get lost in anger or grief, but instead to look into the heart of these feelings and find a way to mine their energy. - Sharon Salzberg
