This week I did an "old school" yoga class and was pleasantly surprised how limber I felt after the 75 minute class. As we did the session, I admit thinking "this is far too gentle for me". However, when I walked out of the studio to my car I clearly noticed my body was more open, supple and moved with greater ease that when I went into the class.
Here's what we did for the 75 minutes - minimal postures but really effective:
- Meditation and pranayama -10 minutes
- Seated stretches - 15 minutes
- Hand to Toe stretch (both legs) – 15 minutes
- Mountain pose/tadasana followed by Warrior II 5 minutes each side (10 minutes total)
- Repeat second time 10 minutes total
- Bridge pose/supported 5 minutes
- Savasana 10 minutes
