It's called a forward fold in yoga and when held longer (2 - 4 minutes) it delivers these massive benefits:
- Soothes the nervous system because it creates space between the vertebra increasing circulation in the spinal nerves
- Stretches the entire back of the body, from the soles of the feet all the way up to the back of the neck and head
- Calms body, mind and spirit because the head is below the heart (much like being in a headstand); greater blood flow to the brain
- Massages and stimulates internal organs such as spleen, liver, intestines, kidneys.
