By widening the gap between action and reaction, you can gain some distance from your automatic responses and also gain an opportunity to know your emotions. You can stop being ruled by these emotions and instead begin to rule your experience of life. - Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche
The Buddhist path touches on every aspect of ourselves and
every aspect of life. It is not just a set of methods to calm the mind down. It shows us that everything we do, say and think is interconnected. Everything we do has a result, bears a fruit. - Ajahn Sundara Most disease are due to the so-called modern civilization and artificial way of living. Go back to nature. You need not pay any fee to doctors then. - Swami Sivananda
Nirvana is not actually a world or a realm or a state. It is absence, the absence of greed, hatred and delusion. It is often referred to as ‘the cooling down of the mind’. - Ajahn Sundara
Yoga is always practiced with bare feet. There are at least five important reasons for this.
First, bare feet are better able to find best stable, balanced contact with the floor or the ground, thus improving balance. Secondly, doing yoga barefoot provides an ideal opportunity for the muscles of the feet to be stretched, flexed, and strengthened. Thirdly, there are vital marma points (called acupressure points in other traditions) in the feet which are stimulated and energized when barefoot promoting healthier heart, lungs, eyes and joints. Fourthly, barefoot yoga gives the feet a generous and welcome relief from being trapped inside shoes (usually worn all day) which cause a sensory deprivation effect in the feet making them more prone to aches and injuries. Finally, doing yoga barefoot creates a grounding experience because the feet come in contact with the “ground” (outside and the floor inside). Research indicates that 30 minutes of grounding barefoot can heal pain, reduce inflammation and improve quality of sleep. WAYS TO PRACTICE YOGA WHEN YOU “DON’T FEEL LIKE IT” 1. Flip the switch. Rather than keep saying to yourself “I just don’t feel like it” switch to a positive mindset: “I’ll go; I’ll do it; and I’ll feel much better”. 2. Buy your own yoga props – get a new mat-a good, high quality one; your own blanket(s); your own blocks, strap. Having your own equipment is motivating. 3. Do it with a friend. Don’t feel like going? Call up a friend and invite him or her to join you for class. 4. Do a quick web search . . . on the benefits of yoga. Simply reading one or two short articles will quickly bring you inspiration and motivation to do it. 5. Browse instagram or TikTok to view yogis doing and enjoying their practice. This can energize you to get to a class. Much of our practice consists of not getting it right. The path of awakening is like that – being able to know that our mistakes and failures are part and parcel of practice. - Ajahn Sundara
On the deepest level, problems such as war and starvation are not solved by economics and politics alone. Their source is prejudice and fear in the human heart; and their solution also lies in the human heart. — Jack Kornfield
Remembering the dead is a great act of loving-kindness. - Ajahn Sulak Sivaraksa
Instead of thinking of nirvana too much in the abstract, it can be more useful to define it as living in a state without suffering. In other words, a life that’s filled with happiness and free from suffering. - Pomnyun Sunim
