After COVID is behind us,
the vast majority of people
will go back to the old way of living,
until there is another crisis,
because that is the way that most
humans are programmed.
But there are some who will
use this time to learn.

Someone, sometime, somewhere taught US Navy Seals how to do pranayama especially when under great stress.  It's become known as 'navy seal breath' but is actually a traditional Yogic breath exercise called "box breathing" or "four square breathing."

Here's how it works:

  1. Breathe in for four seconds.
  2. Hold air in your lungs for four seconds.
  3. Exhale for four seconds.
  4. Hold your breath, lungs emptied, for four seconds.
You can do it anytime, anywhere - in an office cubicle, at your desk, in your car, at your home, on your bed.  Try it but do it for at least 2 or 3 minutes.

There are these four types of people to be found existing in the world. Which four?

One in darkness who is headed for darkness,
one in darkness who is headed for light,
one in light who is headed for darkness,

and one in light who is headed for light.
--Buddha Shakyamuni, Tamonata Sutta

Based on this observation of the Buddha, those who are wise and skillful will seek out as their friends and spiritual companions only those two who are headed for the light.
