The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is reporting that deaths from falls have doubled over the last decade causing death and life altering injuries.  It's an indication that our "senior" population is not prioritizing movement and are becoming stiffer and stiffer resulting if falling too easily.

This report, based on a US Senate Special Committee On Aging, reveals that in 20178 more than 31,000 older Americans suffered fatal injuries from falls, almost twice as many as a decade earlier.  Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injures for adults 65 and older.  The annual cost to US health care now reaches $50 billion in 2015 and may double by 2030.

"In addition to the physical and emotional trauma of falls, the financial toll is staggering," noted committee Chair Senator Susan Collins (R - Maine).  Staying active is proven to reduce the risk of falls among older adults," added Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa)
