Whenever you feel prolonged anger toward someone over an unfortunate encounter, remember that Buddhism defines that emotion an unwholesome state.  Here’s a Buddhist mind experiment to work with which can soften and even remove the anger.  It involves right thinking or better thinking about the circumstance. There are four actions to shift the thought.

First, and the most difficult is to reject the angry thinking.  If that doesn’t work, try the second which is non-hatred. Then, move to the third – non-violence or non cruelty.  Finally, and again, difficult, shift toward compassion and understanding. Work with this Buddhist mind experiment  to discover that it may work for you. - Victor M. Parachin
