Dharma is a Sanskrit word with various meanings in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. There is no single word translation for dharma in Western languages. When Buddhists use the word dharma they refer to the written teachings of the Buddha found in various earliest Buddhist texts. Beings who rely on and are confident in the Dharma can realize the same truth and liberation experienced by the Buddha. In the Pali language, dharma is spelled dhamma.
