- Buddha
Virtue is the good that does not decay. Faith is the good that offers security. Wisdom is the precious jewel of human beings. Merit is what thieves cannot steal.
- Buddha The causes of suffering are the ten unskillful acts: killing, stealing, sensual misconduct, lying, defaming, harsh speech, talking nonsense, covetousness, malice, and holding wrong views about karma, rebirth, and the Three Jewels.
The causes of happiness are to avoid the ten unskillful acts and perform the ten virtuous acts: saving and protecting life, generosity, respect, honesty, reconciling enemies, speaking kindly and meaningfully, being content with much or little, feeling compassion, and cultivating Right View. - Tashi Nyima Suffering is very real, and, I fear, mankind rather increases than decreases it. - Alan Bennett
We cannot enjoy life if we spend our time and energy worrying about what happened yesterday and what will happen tomorrow. If we’re afraid all the time, we miss out on the wonderful fact that we’re alive and can be happy right now. - Thich Nhat Hanh
Whether we give meager or abundant alms, if we give with respect, thoughtfully, attentively; if we give what is right and not what is left over, and give with faith in the result of actions, then, wherever we are reborn as a result of having given with respect, the mind will experience joy. - Buddha
Kindness is most capable of correcting disharmony. - Bhikkhu Cintita
The real source of peace and joy is our mind. - Tulku Thondop
Rather than struggle and suffer so often, why not try to be on friendly terms with life and it’s many twists and turns, changes and challenges? - Victor M. Parachin
Only with wisdom comes lasting peace, but without pacifying emotions, wisdom does not arrive. Avoiding emotional disorder is the essence of practice. - Tashi Nyima
I take upon myself the karma of all beings, even of those in the hells. I take their suffering upon me, I bear it, I do not draw back from it, I do not tremble at it, I do not lose heart. I must bear the burden of all beings, for I have vowed to save all that lives, to bring them safe through the jungle of birth, age, disease, death, and rebirth.
I think not of my own salvation but strive to bestow on all beings the magnificence of supreme wisdom. So I take upon myself all the sorrows of all beings. Truly I will not abandon them. For I have resolved to gain supreme wisdom for the sake of all that lives, to save the world. - Ancient Buddhist Bodhisattva Vow |
