It is clearly seen that most officers and kings, and men in positions of influence in general, regardless of their level, stumble and are corrupted by the flattery of their subordinates. - Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzatto
I've spoken with a number of friends who, from time to time. share a feeling that they don't feel loved much. If you're basically a decent person - good hearted, kind, sensitive, open, etc. - the chances are very good you have many people in your life who love you . . . but many of those people can't get their lips to say "I love you." They have love in their heart but for various reasons they can't speak it. That's possibly because they are reserved or grew up in a family which was not emotionally expressive or because they're afraid of being misunderstood. Here are the qualities of the many people in your life who do love you -
(please feel free to re-post and/or share on your social media) The Buddha loved the planet, spending a great deal of time outside meditating, teaching, walking carefully not to injure new growing plants and herbs. Here are some written reports of his outdoor activity from the Anguttara Nikaya text often abbreviated AN:
“On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling among the Sakyans at Samagamaka near the lotus pond. Thus have I heard . . . On one occasion the Venerable Sariputta was dwelling at Rajagaha in the Bamboo Grove, the squirrel sanctuary. . . . On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Kusinara between the twin sal trees in the sal tree grove of the Mallas at Upavattana, on the occasion of his final nibbana.” Those records reference squirrels, trees, lotus, bamboo, ponds. Clearly the outdoors was his natural settings on a daily basis. The Buddha and today's Buddhists fully support planet protection understanding that we humans need the planet but the planet doesn't need us. In the Buddhist perspective, an adult is defined as someone who has the capacity to understand and consider the consequences of his or her actions. Childishness, in Buddhism, is not considering the consequences of our actions. - Tashi Nyima
Whatsoever the evolutionary basis of religion, the xenophobia it now generates is clearly maladaptive. - Lawrence M. Krauss
Instead of being a mover in life why not yield and let life move through you?
- Victor M. Parachin Gentleness is a sense of good-heartedness toward ourselves.- Pema Chodron
We all have attachments, or to use a contemporary term, addictions. They may be material or mental; They may be worldly, philosophical, or physical. Attachments may be superficial and transient or deeply ingrained and stubbornly fixed. Attachments have one thing in common, however: they all create aggravation, turmoil in our lives. Through practice, is is possible to separate yourself from attachments. - Sheng Yen
There is no merit without zeal, just as there is no movement without wind. What is zeal? It is enthusiasm for virtue. What is said to be its antithesis? It is spiritual sloth, clinging to the reprehensible, apathy and self-contempt. - Shantideva
